Hardware Design and Components
The KC4 is designed with rubber caps on each end that help seal the internal components from the outside environment. The rubber caps also act as non-skid feet for the controller and provide excellent balance so that the KC4 can stand stably on any side.
Power cord and brick
The brushed aluminum enclosure and the design of the power cord and brick offer several key benefits to the kitchen environment. The universal power supply features a locking input connector to prevent unintentional detachment from the KC4. The power plug for the wall / ceiling outlet is small enough and oriented in a manner to prevent covering multiple outlets. Additionally, the weight of the power brick is light enough so that it doesn’t pull away from the outlet. For International installs, there is a separate power supply, which has a detachable AC power cord that can be interchanged for different regions.
Expansion options
Expansion options are available through the use of the USB 3.0 ports. Wireless networking is available as an upgrade by installing a wireless adapter in the vertical USB port. Video support for the KPS system is offered through the DVI-I connector on the Controller. The screen resolutions supported by the KC4 are from 640 x 480 through 1920 x 1200.
Bump bar
Used to interact with the KC4, the Bump Bar is also built with a rugged aluminum enclosure designed to function in a kitchen environment. Rubber end caps protect both sides of the unit and the serial connector from the ingress of debris. The end cap can be removed for access to the serial connector without the need for any tools.
The Bump Bar features a volume adjustable speaker to allow for alert beeps and key beeps to be heard in a noisy environment. Each key is programmable to a pre-defined function list to provide the most flexible solution for each customer’s operation. The Bump Bar also includes mounting brackets on both sides that allow it to be mounted to NCR brackets or other surfaces.
Mounting options
NCR offers several options for mounting the KPS hardware with an LCD monitor. These options include counter, wall, and ceiling mounting. Each customer can choose the mounting system that works best in their environment. None of the options are required for installation of a KPS system, though these options typically provide for a better installation.
Please ask your NCR representative for more details.
