Changing the COM port number

Syntax

-cpt [port num]

Example

–cpt 2

The application sets the COM port number to 2.

Note

The command [port num] ranges from 1 to 256. The INI file will be updated if you use this command. After successfully changing the com port number in the INI file, the application loads the port number and runs the monitor command to test the connection. This command is only applicable for RS-232 communication protocol. This is also a standalone command, meaning it should not be mixed with other commands. The autosearch port feature is now available for RS-232 protocol. With this feature, setting the autosearchport value to Y in the INI file lets the scanner connect to the terminal or PC even if the serial cable is not plugged to the correct port when changing the port number. On the other hand, setting it to “N” returns a Cannot open port error and thus requires that the serial cable be plugged into the correct port when changing the port number.
