Adding age-restricted items
When adding age-restricted items to a transaction, the application displays a message for the associate to confirm the customer’s date of birth. When selling multiple age-restricted items, the application requests for age verification only once in a transaction.
Configurable features
The POS application can be configured with the following features:
- Display the Customer Birthdate screen instead of the birth date verification message. Refer to the following option:
- General > Age Restriction Date Required
- Collect additional item information such as serial number, IMEI, electronic serial number, or email address. This feature requires an Information Set to be added as an attribute using the Products API. Refer to the following sections:
To add an age-restricted item to the sale, follow these steps:
- Scan the item or enter the item code on the keypad, and then select Enter.
The POS application displays a message instructing the associate to check the customer's ID to verify their date of birth.
NoteWhen configured, the POS application displays the Customer Birthdate screen for the associate to manually enter the customer's date of birth.
- Select Yes on the birth date verification message.
If the customer meets the age minimum age requirement, the age-restricted item is added to the sales transaction. If the customer is below the restricted age, an information message is displayed and the item is not added to the transaction.
NoteWhen an item requires additional information before it can be added to the transaction, the application displays the Additional Information screen.
- Complete the transaction.
