Associate

The following table describes the Associate options.

Determines the maximum number of days that an inactive associate's credentials is stored on the POS terminal. The duration starts after the last successful sign-in until the maximum number of days specified. When this duration is exceeded, the POS terminal voids the associate's credentials and blocks the associate from signing on.

Note

The number of days configured for this parameter is counted according to the POS terminal’s business date, not on the date of the system in which the POS is installed.

Associate Discount Lookup on the PED Yes/NoNo

Determines whether or not the Associate ID and PIN information is collected on the PIN pad when applying an associate discount to an item during a sales transaction.

Note

This option requires additional retailer integration and retailer-specific PIN pad screens. For more information, consult with an NCR Representative.

Associate ID Validation SourceOne of the following values:

Determines the source of the associate ID validation when applying an associate discount.

  • 0—No Validation. The POS will not validate the associate ID.
  • 1—NCR Default Validation. The POS uses the local database to validate the associate ID.
  • 2—Validation via the SA Interface Layer. The POS uses SAIL to validate the associate ID.
Associate Management Password Message TimeA numeric value from zero to 99930Specifies the number of seconds that the password message window displays before completion.

Determines the associate password type.

  • 1—PIN only
  • 2—Strong Password
BCrypt Encryption Work FactorA numeric value from one four to seven.4Designates the number of cycles to hash the password. Hashing increases the security of the password.
Days before an associate is notified about password expirationA numeric value from zero to 999(None)

Specifies the number of days associates receive an information message before their password expires. The POS application displays the message after a successful sign-in, once per business day within the specified duration.

This parameter is applicable for deployment at the Corporate-level only.

Discount ID TypeOne of the following values:
  • Associate ID
  • Alternate Associate ID
Associate ID

Determines the ID type used to validate the associate discount eligibility.

  • Associate ID—Use this type if the ID used for discounts is the same as the ID the associate uses to sign on to the POS application.
  • Alternate Associate ID—Use this type if the ID used for discounts is different from the ID of the signed on associate.
Display and Print Associate Name FieldOne of the following values:
  • Preferred Name
  • First Name
  • Last Name
Preferred NameDetermines which associate name option is displayed on the POS application status bar and printed on the transaction receipts.
Display Associate Info on Status barOne of the following values:
  • Associate ID

Associate IDSpecifies whether or not to display the Associate ID or the Associate Name on the POS application’s status bar.
Display Associate Name on Sign On ChitYes/NoYesSpecifies whether or not to print the associate's name on the associate sign-on chit. An associate sign-on chit contains a QR code that can be scanned to allow authorized associates and associates to sign into the POS application without manually entering their username and password.

Enables the POS to create unique associate numbers for user authentication purposes. This parameter is relevant to retailers that are moving from a store-level to an enterprise-level associate user ID management but are still requiring their store users to sign on to the POS application using their store-level associate numbers.

Note

Set to Yes when store-level associate numbers are not unique at the enterprise.

Note

For security purposes, changing the associate job role code of a terminated or inactive associate does not automatically update the associate information.
