Discount Menu Options

The following table describes the Discount Menu options.

Note

This is a multi-record option group. Records can be added as necessary. This parameter group has a maximum limit of 99 records.

Specifies the sort value keys for the other discount types that would be disabled when the corresponding discount type for this option is performed on the POS.

Note

This parameter accepts multiple values separated by a comma.

Amount Off Fixed ValueA numeric value from zero to 999999999

Specifies the fixed amount discount to be applied to all transactions when the Discount button is selected on the POS.

To use this option, set the Prompt For Value option to No.

Note

This option assumes two decimal places.

Associate ID Fixed ValueAn alphanumeric value from zero to 50 characters

Specifies the Associate ID value to be used to apply an associate discount to a transaction.

To use this option, set the Discount Type option to Associate Discount.

Associate Trigger Code Fixed ValueAn alphanumeric value from zero to 20 charactersSpecifies the AMS trigger code to be used to apply an associate discount to a transaction.
Note
  • To use this option, set the Discount Type option to Associate Discount.
  • The Prompt For Value option is ignored when using this option.
  • This option applies only to AS systems integrated with AMS. Trigger codes are configured in AMS Logix.
Discount DescriptionAn alphanumeric value from zero to 40 charactersProvides the discount description displayed on the sequence number.
Discount Disabled After UseYes/NoDetermines whether or not to limit the use of the discount to once per transaction.
Discount Type

One of the following values:

  • Percent Off
  • Amount Off
  • Trigger Code
  • Associate Discount
  • Trade Member Discount
  • Rewards

Determines the type of transaction–level discount.

  • Percent Off—applies a percent off of the transaction.
  • Amount Off—applies an amount off of the transaction.
  • Trigger Code—applies a discount to the transaction using an AMS promotion trigger code.
  • Associate Discount—applies an associate discount using the associate ID.
    Note

    Selecting a value of Associate Discount displays the Associate Discount view on the POS terminal and ignores any value entered for the other discount value parameters.

  • Trade Member Discount—applies a discount to the transaction using a Trade Member ID.
  • Rewards—applies a specific dollar off of the transaction. Selecting a value of Rewards displays the Rewards Information screen.
    Note

    Rewards are earned through Loyalty Membership and can only be redeemed by Loyalty Members.

Enable DiscountYes/NoDetermines if transaction–level discounts can be used. This option displays or hides the Discount button on the POS terminal during a sales transaction.
  • Yes—Discount button will be visible and available.
  • No—Discount button will be hidden.
Percent Off Fixed ValueA numeric value from zero to 999Specifies the percentage discount to be applied to all transactions when the Discount button is selected on the POS.
Note

To use this option, set the Prompt For Value option to No.

Prompt For ValueYes/NoDetermines whether or not the POS terminal prompts the user for a discount value when the Discount button is selected.
  • Yes—displays the Tran % Discount or Tran $ Off Discount screens for a discount value to be entered. Selecting Yes ignores any values entered in the fixed value options.
  • No—obtains the discount value from the fixed value options.
Sequence NumberA numeric value from zero to 99

Determines the order in which the discount descriptions will be displayed on the POS application.

This parameter is the record's key.

Transaction Discount Require Reason CodeYes/NoDetermines whether or not the POS requires a reason when a transaction discount is entered. This value can differ for each discount type.
Note

Enter discount reasons in the Transaction Discount Reason Codes option. For more information, refer to Transaction Level Discount Reason Codes.

Trigger Code Fixed ValueA numeric value from zero to 99999999999999999999

Designates the trigger code value to be applied to all transactions when the Discount button is selected on the POS.

To use this option, set the Discount Type option to Trigger Code.

This option applies only to AS systems integrated with AMS. Trigger codes are configured in AMS Logix.
