Quick Menu Buttons

The Quick Menu Buttons parameter group can be used to create the POS button for a sub-menu defined in the Quick Menus parameter group or for an existing item in the store’s database. These buttons allow the POS application to access quick menus and items for store transactions. The color configuration options available for this feature can use the hexadecimal notation or the RGBA notation.

The following table describes the Quick Menu Buttons options.

Note

This is a multi-record option group. Records can be added as necessary.

Option name Value Description
Action Data An alphanumeric value from zero to 40 characters Determines the quick menu or item code that is linked to the quick menu button. This parameter accepts the following value types:
  • Item code—When the Action Type option value is set to TerminationKey, this option specifies the item code which enables the item to be added to sales transactions.
  • Menu name—When the Action Type value is set to OpenMenu, this option specifies the name of the quick menu defined in the Quick Menus parameter group which the POS application displays when the button is selected.
Action Termination Key

One of the following values:

  • Item Selected Key (ItemSelectedKey)
  • None
Determines the action taken when a quick menu button is selected.
  • Item Selected Key(ItemSelectedKey)—the POS application assigns the button to a store product.
  • None—the POS application assigns the button to a sub-menu created and defined in the Quick Menus parameter group.

This option works in conjunction with the Action Type option.

Action Type

One of the following values:

  • Open Menu (OpenMenu)
  • Termination Key (TerminationKey)
Determines whetherthe button is assigned to a sub-menu or a store product.
  • Open Menu(OpenMenu)—the POS application displays the quick menus.
  • Termination Key(TerminationKey)—the POS application displays the quick menu button and, when selected, adds the item, which is defined in the Action Data field, to the transaction.

This option works in conjunction with the Action Data option.

Additional Text An alphanumeric value from zero to 40 characters Defines the second line of text displayed on the button.
Background Color An alphanumeric value from zero to 40 characters Specifies the color of the quick menu button.
Note

When left blank, the POS application uses the default color.

Background Color Pressing An alphanumeric value from zero to 40 characters Specifies the color of the quick menu button when the button is selected.
Note

When left blank, the POS application uses the default color.

Button ID A numeric value from zero to 999999

Specifies the unique ID of the button.

This parameter is the record's key.

Note

Once the record is created, this option cannot be modified again.

Display Order A numeric value from one to 999999 Determines the sort order of the buttons displayed on the Menu Maintenance screen and Quick Menu screen.
Foreground Color An alphanumeric value from zero to 40 characters Specifies the color of the quick menu button text.
Note

When left blank, the POS application uses the default color.

Foreground Color Pressing An alphanumeric value from zero to 40 characters Specifies the color of the quick menu button text when the button is selected.
Note

When left blank, the POS application uses the default color.

Image Location An alphanumeric value from zero to 255 characters Defines the location and file name of the image for the quick menu button.
Note

Add the image URL to the browser’s list of trusted sites to avoid error messages and to properly load the images.

Item Description An alphanumeric value from zero to 30 characters Defines the item description which will be displayed on the POS application and POSLog and printed on transaction receipts and chits.
Note
  • If left blank, the assigned item is displayed on the POS and POSLog and printed on receipts and chits as default item.
  • This parameter is not applicable when the button is assigned to a sub-menu.
Item Price A numeric value from zero to 999999999 Defines the price of the store product assigned to the button.
Note
  • This option assumes two decimal places.
  • If left blank and the button is assigned to an item, the POS automatically applies the price of the item defined in the store’s database.
  • This parameter is not applicable when the button is assigned as a sub-menu.
Label An alphanumeric value from one to 40 characters Defines the label text displayed inside the button.
Note
  • If the button is assigned to a quick sub-menu, this option specifies the name of its assigned quick menu.
  • If the button is assigned to an item, this option specifies the name of its assigned item.
Parent Menu Name An alphanumeric value from zero to 40 characters Determines which quick menu defined in the Quick Menus parameter group the button will be displayed in. For more information, refer to Quick Menus.

Sample data for a sub-menu button

Each sub-menu created and defined in the Quick Menus parameter group require its own quick menu button in order to be accessed from the POS application. A sub-menu can either be assigned to the main menu or to another sub-menu.

The following table provides the values for a sample sub-menu assigned to the main menu.

Store products require quick menu buttons in order to be added to a quick menu. Items can either be assigned to the main menu or to a sub-menu.
