Configuring the POS Peripherals

To complete the AS POS retail setup, configure the peripherals and devices connected to the POS terminal. POS peripherals include input and output devices.

Input devices include the following:

  • Scanner
  • Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) reader
  • Magnetic Stripe Reader (MSR) device
  • Personal Identification Number (PIN) pad or PIN entry device

Output devices include the following:

  • POS Terminal
  • Customer Information Display (CID)
  • Line display
  • Receipt printer
  • Windows printer

The Advanced Store POS application supports only the NCR OLE for Retail POS (OPOS) Service model—NCROposSO.

This section provides an overview for configuring POS peripherals and describes how to configure the NCROpos.SO peripherals service models.

This section is especially intended for the NCR local support personnel who is technically capable of setting up the AS POS retail setup. Some POS peripheral configuration instructions may not be covered in this publication. For more information, consult with an NCR Representative.
