Retail Transaction Interface (RTI)

To add leverage to its customers, the AS solution uses the Retail Transaction Interface (RTI) standard for its POS application. This standard was developed by the Association for Retail Technology Standards (ARTS), in which the AS solution remains compliant. RTI takes advantage of the service-oriented architecture (SOA) concept, which allows seamless integration and organized communication between businesses that support SOA services.

With the POS application, RTI is used when integrating the POS with another application, such as the retailer Clienteling application or guided selling. Through the Clienteling application, customers are able to access the Advanced Store POS application and perform sales transactions.

By default, the POS has already been configured to operate with the RTI turned on and actively listening for communication requests to the POS. Customers are able to do the following POS operations with the RTI turned on:

  • Begin a sales transaction
  • Cancel a sales transaction
  • Add an item to a transaction
  • Identify the customer in a transaction
  • Get current transaction status
  • Request total transaction amount
