Accepting credit cards
The POS application accepts credit cards and third-party gift cards as payments for sales transactions.
Retailers can group tenders into a single button and display it on the Tender Menu screen. For more information, refer to Tender Definitions and Grouping tenders.
To accept credit card and third-party gift cards as payments, follow these steps:
- On the Tender Menu screen, select Credit Card. The application displays the Card Amount screen.
- Enter the amount that will be taken out of the card, and then select Enter.
The following section describes the scenarios when the POS is connected to a specific payment solution. Follow the instructions displayed on the PIN pad.
Verifone Point
When the POS is integrated with Verifone Point, the customer inserts or swipes the card at the PIN pad. If the customer cancels the tender on the PIN pad, associates can choose to retry or select a new payment method through the POS.
When the customer signs or enters a PIN on the PIN pad, the POS does not require the customer to also sign the receipt and does not print a signature line on the receipt.
NoteThe Verifone Point PIN pad device has set specific requirements in processing credit payments. To ensure that the payment is processed, NCR recommends defining the alternate IDs in Active Directory. For more information, refer to Configuring the Enterprise to Use Active Directory. In the absence of an alternate ID, the POS will use the first ten characters of the associate or borrowed associate ID. For more information, consult with an NCR Representative.
Japan NCR Payment Client
When the POS is integrated with the Japan NCR Payment Client, the cashier swipes the card on the MSR device and then enters an amount on the Card Amount screen. The NPC window is displayed on the POS.
Follow the instructions displayed on the NPC window. The application displays the Receipt Preference screen. Select a type of receipt.
NCR Common Client Interface
When the POS is integrated with the NCR Common Client Interface, the customer inserts or swipes the card at the PIN pad. If the customer cancels the tender on the PIN pad, the POS application displays the Customer Cancelled Tender At PIN pad screen. Associates can choose to retry or select a new payment method through the POS.
The application completes the transaction by printing the receipts.
