Locking a Terminal or Signing Off

There may be times when associates need to step away from their terminal. The POS application provides the following ways to secure a terminal when associates leave their workstations:

• Sign Off—use this option when associates need to leave the terminal for reasons such as lunch breaks.
  Caution

  Use the Sign Off option only after a transaction is completed. If an associate signs off during a transaction, the transaction is voided, and it cannot be recovered.

• Lock Terminal—use this option if the associate needs to leave a terminal in the middle of an active transaction. When the associate signs back on the terminal, the application redisplays the active transaction.

The Lock and Sign Off global buttons can be accessed from the global buttons in any transaction screen.
