Using the Drawer Functions

Drawer Functions help keep track of money, checks, and other types of tenders exchanged at a cash drawer throughout the day. Drawer functions include the following functions:

  • Paid In—tracks cash that come into a cash drawer for reasons other than sales and loans.
  • Paid Out—tracks cash that leave a cash drawer for reasons other than returns, pickups, and change due for a sale.
  • Initiate Pickup—tracks pickups of cash and checks. Pickups are used to ensure that the money in cash drawers does not exceed designated drawer limits. Pickups are also used to ensure that large bills are removed from the sales floor.
  • Receive Loan—tracks loans into a cash drawer. Loans are used to ensure that money in a drawer does not fall below designated minimum amounts. Loans are also used to ensure that a cash drawer has the correct tender denominations for making change.

The AS application limits the total transaction amount to seven digits and two decimal places. When the amount exceeds the limit, the application displays an error message.

Drawer functions performed at the POS terminal are processed in the POS back office.
