Customizing POS offline messages

The application displays an error message when the POS is offline to the Integration Layer (SAIL) or when SAIL is unable to communicate with the retailer’s third-party application. Retailers can customize the error messages on the following screens:

  • Customer Lookup screen
  • Enroll Customer screen
  • Item Lookup screen

The error message can vary, depending on whether the SAIL response code has defined the error message. If the returned response code is blank, the default offline message is displayed on the POS. To configure the default offline message, consult with an NCR Representative.

Important

Retailers have to update the SAIL Product Catalog APIs in order for SAIL to return a response code. For more information, consult with an NCR Representative.
