Scale Diagnostic Codes
Scale Errors are displayed on the Clean Window Indicator, which is located below the three control buttons. When an error is detected, the Clean Window Indicator displays the equivalent color sequence for the error, only once, and then the scanner speaks the error.
Error codes are also displayed on the NCR RealScan™ 25 Remote Compact Display if one is included with the NCR 7877.
Following are the scale error codes. Select the graphic display for a description of the error code. Select the graphic display a second time to hide the description.
Calibration Error

Description
Calibration error – Out of Range
Corrective Action
1.Check the Scale and the Power Supply cables for proper connection.
2.Calibrate the Scale.

Scale Operation Error

Description
•NCR 7877 does not have a scale
•Calibration Switch pressed for more than 3 seconds
•Internal scale connection problem
•Possible Scale error
Corrective Action
1.Verify that the NCR 7877 has a scale. If there is no scale, program for scanner only – Program Mode, Hex 3, Hex 0, Hex 4, Save and Reset.
2.Check for objects that interfere with the Calibration Switch.
3.Touch the Scale Zero button.
4.Calibrate the Scale.
5.Call for service.
Scale Drift
Error Code 5 - - - -
Flashes Blue >> Red >> Red
Description
The scale has drifted off zero weight with nothing on the Top Plate.
Corrective Action
1.Verify that nothing is on the Top Plate.
2.Lift the Top Plate and verify that there is nothing under it.
3.Verify that nothing is interfering with the Top Plate or Produce Guard.
4.Touch the Scale Zero button.
5.Call for service.
Program Parameters Updating Failure
Error Code 6 - - - -
Flashes Blue >> Red >> Red >> Red
Description
There is a failure to update the Program Parameters in memory
Corrective Action
1.Reset the NCR 7877.
2.Calibrate the Scale.
3.Call for service.
Program Parameters Reading Error
Error Code 7 - - - -
Flashes Blue >> Red >> Red >> Red >> Red
Description
An error occurred while reading Program Parameters from memory.
Corrective Action
1.Calibrate the Scale.
2.Call for service.
Scale Not Exercised Properly
Error Code 8 - - - -
Flashes Blue >> Green
Description
The Scale was not exercised properly prior to calibration.
Corrective Action
1.Calibrate the Scale. Be sure to properly exercise the scale at the beginning of the procedure.
2.Call for service.
Linearity Problem
Error Code 9 - - - -
Flashes Blue >> Green >> Green
Description
•A Scale linearity problem is detected.
•A slight vibration is detected during calibration.
Corrective Action
1.Remove any interference around the Top Plate.
2.Check the Scale and the Power Supply cables for proper connection.
3.Calibrate the Scale.
4.Call for service.
