Merchandise Menu Buttons

The Merchandise Menu Buttons parameter group can be used to create the POS button for a merchandise menu or merchandise menu item. For more information about using this feature, refer to the following sections:

By default, the Merchandise Menu Buttons parameter group has an existing record with the button ID 1. This record can be configured as a POS button for a merchandise menu or a merchandise menu item. Configure the record as preferred.

The following table describes the Merchandise Menu Buttons options.

This is a multi-record option group. Records can be added as necessary.

Option name Value Description
Action Data An alphanumeric value from zero to 40 characters Determines the merchandise menu or item code that is linked to the merchandise menu button. This parameter accepts the following value types:
  • Item code—When the Action Type option value is set to TerminationKey, this option specifies the item code which enables the item to be added to sales transactions.
  • Menu name—When the Action Type value is set to OpenMenu, this option specifies the name of the merchandise menu defined in the Merchandise Menus parameter group which the POS application displays when the button is selected.
Action Termination Key

One of the following values:

  • Item Selected Key (ItemSelectedKey)
  • None
Determines the action taken when a merchandise menu button is selected.
  • Item Selected Key (ItemSelectedKey)—the POS application assigns the button to a store product.
  • None—the POS application assigns the button to a sub-menu created and defined in the Merchandise Menus parameter group.

This option works in conjunction with the Action Type option.

Action Type

One of the following values:

  • Open Menu (OpenMenu)
  • Termination Key (TerminationKey)
Determines whether the button is assigned to a sub-menu or a store product.
  • Open Menu (OpenMenu)—the POS application displays the merchandise menus.
  • Termination Key (TerminationKey)—the POS application displays the merchandise menu button and, when selected, adds the item, which is defined in the Action Data field, to the transaction.

This option works in conjunction with the Action Data option.

Additional Text An alphanumeric value from zero to 40 characters Defines the second line of text displayed on the button.
Background Color An alphanumeric value from zero to 40 characters Specifies the color of the merchandise menu button.
Note

When left blank, the POS application uses the default color.

Background Color Pressing An alphanumeric value from zero to 40 characters Specifies the color of the merchandise button when the button is selected.
Note

When left blank, the POS application uses the default color.

Button ID A numeric value from zero to 999999

Specifies the unique ID of the button.

This parameter is the record's key.

Note

Once the record is created, this option cannot be modified again.

Foreground Color An alphanumeric value from zero to 40 characters Specifies the color of the merchandise menu button text.
Note

When left blank, the POS application uses the default color.

Foreground Color Pressing An alphanumeric value from zero to 40 characters Specifies the color of the merchandise menu button text when the button is selected.
Note

When left blank, the POS application uses the default color.

Image Location An alphanumeric value from zero to 255 characters Defines the location of the image of the merchandise menu button.
Note

Add the image URL to the browser’s list of trusted sites to avoid error messages and to properly load the images.

Label An alphanumeric value from zero to 40 characters Defines the label or name of the button.
Parent Menu Name An alphanumeric value from zero to 40 characters Determines which merchandise menu defined in the Merchandise Menus parameter group the button will be displayed in. For more information, refer to Merchandise Menus.
