Entering customer information
Some states permit retailers to ask for e-mail addresses, customer numbers, or postal codes for marketing purposes. The POS application can be configured to display the Email Address, Telephone Number, and Zip Code screens. The customer information can be entered through one of the following:
- Using the POS application
- Using compatible PIN pad devices
- Scanning the customer ID
When connected to a payment solution, the POS application enables the customer to enter e-mail and other information on compatible PIN pad devices. The POS application can then display an e-mail confirmation message when changes have been made. The customer can also select to receive marketing e-mails using the PIN pad device. For more information, refer to Customer Configuration. For more information about compatible PIN pad devices and payment solutions, consult with an NCR Representative.
The POS application does not prompt for the e-mail address, telephone number, and zip codes in the following instances:
- If the customer has been added to the sales transaction through the loyalty lookup feature. For more information, refer to Looking up customers.
- If the Internal Sale feature is enabled. For more information, refer to Charging purchases to the store.
