Handling offline check payments

When offline to the Database Server or payment solution, the POS application can be configured to still accept check payments.

Before handling offline check payments, the retailer must specify a permissible offline sale floor limit amount for the check tender. For more information, refer to Tender Definitions.

To accept check payments when the POS is offline, follow these steps:

  1. On the Check Amount screen, do one of the following:
    • Select the predefined amount in the options menu.
    • Enter the check amount on the keypad, and then select Enter.

Depending on the verification of the check amount against the predefined permissible offline sale floor limit amount, the application displays one of the following screens:

    • Check Face Printing screen—the POS application displays this screen if the entered check amount is below or equal to the specified permissible offline sale floor limit amount. For more information about continuing the transaction, refer to Processing check payments.
    • Call Credit Department screen—the POS application displays this screen if the entered check amount goes above the specified permissible offline sale floor limit amount. The POS application then automatically prints a chit containing the check authorizer phone number and the Merchant ID for the cashier. For more information about continuing the transaction, refer to Referring check payments.
  2. Complete the transaction.
