Using Commercial Sale

Retailers can use the commercial sale feature to handle sales transactions with business clients. Using the commercial sale feature enables retailers to do the following:

• Classify sales transactions with business clients as commercial sales in the store's database, POSLog records, and store summary reports. This allows retailers to separately identify and track commercial sales from the other types of sales transactions in the store.
• Automatically add a discount promotion to commercial sales. Commercial sales can be configured to automatically apply a discount that is setup in AMS Logix.

To enable commercial sale transactions, the Commercial Sale button must be enabled on the Transaction Types screen. Refer to the Enable Commercial Sale Button parameter in Menu Buttons.

Configurable features

The POS application can be configured with the following commercial sale options:

• Enable or disable the Commercial Sale button. Refer to the Enable Commercial Sale Button parameter in Menu Buttons.
• Enable the POS to automatically apply a discount to commercial sale transactions by specifying the trigger code of the discount that will be used. Refer to the Commercial Sale Trigger Code Fixed Value parameter in Discounts.
• Specify the associate roles that are authorized to perform a commercial sale. Refer to the CommercialSale parameter record in Authorization Overrides.

To perform a commercial sales transaction, follow these steps:

• On the Transaction Types screen, select Commercial Sale. The application displays the Sale Main Menu screen.
  Note

  If a discount has been set to be automatically applied to commercial sale transactions, the POS application will display the discount details on the screen. Depending on the discount used, the discount may be applicable only to eligible items or to the transaction as a whole.

• Add items to the transaction.
• Complete the transaction.
