Automatic sign off

The POS terminal automatically signs off associates when the specified the maximum idle time has passed. To enable this feature, retailers must specify the maximum number of seconds at which the POS application automatically signs off an associate. For more information, refer to Auto Sign Off.

Caution

If an associate is signs off in the middle of a transaction, that transaction is voided and cannot be recovered. To prevent the transaction from being voided, the associate must suspend the transaction or lock the terminal if they need to leave the terminal. For more information, refer to Suspending and Resuming Transactions.

The associate who is signed on to the terminal before suspending the transaction or locking the terminal must be the same associate who signs on to unlock the terminal or resume the transaction. To let another associate sign on to a locked terminal or suspended transaction, authorization is required. For more information, refer to Locking a Terminal or Signing Off.
