Prerequisites

Before updating the printer firmware, follow these steps:

Download the firmware files.	Downloading Firmware Files
Create a firmware folder for all firmware files.	If using GUI or Windows Command Line to update firmware, save the firmware files into a directory folder. If using a thumb drive to update firmware, refer to Creating firmware folder
Obtain the following information: for COM interface—COM Port number; baud rate, data bits, stop bits, parity for LAN interface—IP address	To obtain the COM Port number, refer to Obtaining the COM port number To obtain the baud rate, data bits, stop bits, parity, or the IP address, refer to Printing a diagnostic form (offline).
Connect the printer to the terminal. Note This step is required for both GUI and Windows Command Line when using RS232, USB, or Ethernet. This step is not required when updating the firmware using a USB thumb drive.	Connecting the printer to the terminal
