Processing house card applications

Offering a store credit line gives retailers the opportunity to build loyalty with customers. Retailers can configure multiple credit application types, with different requirements for each type. The POS application can process credit applications both inside and outside a merchandise transaction. Within a sales or exchange transaction, the credit application feature can be accessed from the following screens:

  • Sale Main Menu
  • Tender Menu
  • Transaction Types
  • Return Main Menu

Authorized associates can process house card applications from customers using one of the following methods:

Configurable features

The POS application can be configured with the following features.

  • Enable the credit application feature and determine whether the application type is displayed on the Credit Application Selection menu. Refer to the following options:
  • Define the name of the credit application type that is displayed on the menu. Refer to the following option:
  • Determine whether the POS uses parameters, a credit authorization plug-in, or a personal device during a credit application. Refer to the following option:
  • Specify the payment client to be used when a credit authorization plug-in is used with credit applications. Refer to the following option:

  • Collect additional personal information when the new house card account created inside the sales transaction is automatically used for tendering. For more information, refer to the following sections:
  • Display an information message when an associate or customer enters an e-mail address that does not pass third-party validation. Permit the associate to return to the view or accept the invalid e-mail format. Refer to the following option:
  • Disable the automatic use of a new house card account as tender during a gift card sale to avoid fraud. During tendering, the application displays a message instructing the associate to change the tender option or void the gift card item in the sale transaction. Refer to the following option:

      Retailers have to confirm that the CreditApplicationResultView in the name attribute of the ViewChain element is defined in the DeviceManagerPinPadVerifonePoint.xml file. For more information, consult with an NCR Representative.

  • Determine the transaction types to enable the Credit Application global key. Refer to the following option:

  • Specify whether to display the Real Time Prescreen information message at the POS where the cashier can select Accept or Decline or display the information in a separate HTML screen. Refer to the following option:

  • Mask the account number printed on the approval chit according to the masking definition for that tender type. Refer to the following option:
  • Disable a specific field from prepopulating on the customer information screen. For example, the date of birth field can be configured to not prepopulate on the Credit Application Customer Information screen, so the customer can enter the correct information through a PIN pad.
